Barton Court Grammar School (BCGS) is a state, selective, co-educational school with a strong reputation for its high academic standards and its caring and supportive ethos. The Charles Dickens School (CDS), a state, non-selective, co-educational secondary school joined BCAT on 1 March 2017 and Barton Manor School (BMS), our free school, which is also a non-selective co-educational secondary school opens in September 2022 to Year 7.
The Post
For September 2022, the Governors wish to appoint a highly qualified Lead Teacher of Computing to lead at Barton Court Grammar School and to lead Computing/ICT at Barton Manor School. This is a fantastic opportunity to lead a highly successful department within Barton Court whilst at the same time setting up Computing/ICT provision in our Free school, Barton Manor, opening to Y7 in September 2022. The majority of the role will be leading and teaching Computing at Barton Court with the opportunity to teach at the Free School if desired, although not essential. Over time, there is the opportunity to set up a collaborative Faculty working across two schools.
Barton Court Grammar School offers an excellent opportunity to work in a very good school (Ofsted Good with many outstanding features, Feb 2020) and within a successful and highly popular subject. This role would suit an enthusiastic candidate considering their first Lead Teacher role or a more experienced professional looking to further their expertise.
The School is committed to excellence in professional development and is looking for a committed individual who can offer outstanding teaching and leadership and a commitment to offering extra-curricular opportunities. The ability to teach Computing at both GCSE and A Level is essential.
Barton Court Grammar School is an accredited “Thinking School” with a strong reputation for high academic standards, a caring and supportive ethos and a commitment to professional development. The School has dedicated and supportive staff, well-behaved, motivated students and a thriving Sixth Form. An extensive well-being programme is in place with many benefits including reduced gym membership at CCCU, event afternoons throughout the year and other benefits offered by BCAT and Kent Rewards.
