Local Year 5 Students Visit BMS for Art Workshop
Posted on: 15/10/2024Tuesday 15 October 2024 saw a class of Year 5s from Pilgrims' Way Primary School visit Barton Manor School for an Art Workshop.
After a number of warm up drawing tasks delivered by BMS staff, including speedy communal sketching and continuous line drawing, students spent some quality time on observational drawing. This involved all students sketching a scene of random objects in front of them ranging from plants and boots through to glass pumpkins, bird cages and even a stuffed fox named Bisquit!
The focus was on accuracy of scale and proportion, consideration of composition and pencil shading techniques.
The workshop was supported by the Pilgrims' Way staff and three Year 9 students who will be using this event as evidence for their Bronze Arts Award qualifications they are undertaking this year. The BMS Year 9 students gave tips to the primary children as well as demonstrating how to apply each skill to the artworks.
The final results were fabulous - there are some really talented artists at Pilgrims' Way! Both schools are working towards Artsmark status and further workshops, including a Textiles printing one, are currently being planned as BMS continues to collaborate with this local primary school.
